Court Soca Parang Explosion a gigantic
success!
The annual Christmas
event of Grenada Distillers Limited (GDL),
“The Melee Soca Parang Explosion”,
proved to be a gigantic success.
Ms Janis Cuffie,
Marketing Consultant was contracted to
organise this iconic event which took
place on the evening of Friday December
17, 2010.
Mr Fred Antoine,
General Manager of GDL was high in
praise of the sponsors who came forward
to support the event which, according to
him, “has huge cultural significance, in
the sustenance of Grenadian Christmas
traditions.”
LIME, Grenada
National Lotteries Authority, Bryden &
Minors - agents for Heineken - Andall &
Associates, The Grenada Hotel & Tourism
Association, Gem Holiday Beach Resort,
The Flamboyant Hotel and True Blue Bay
Resort sponsored the event, which, as
promised was a very high calibre event,
since, as Cuffie said, “... heavy
consideration was given to the selection
of the best artistes for the event and
the overall structuring of the programme
for the night of the event.”
Among artistes who
performed at The Melee Soca Parang
Explosion were Men from the Mainland,
BBH Serenaders, Small Axe, Toublous,
Ranking Marvin, Hess and the Boys,
Intelligent Stars, Lakay, Steve
Theodore, Seth T. Boy, Inspector,
Original Waters. Fatman George and
Gambay were Masters of Ceremony.
Individuals from the
vast audience won prizes by taking to
the stage with their own renditions,
winning prizes from Grenada Distillers
Limited and various sponsors. They
included the winner of the Bottle &
Spoon Competition who won one case each
Vita Malt and Stag compliments Grenada
Breweries; and a Clarkes Court Rum
hamper compliments GDL. Also, Lisa, from
the Good Behaved Crew, who won one
bottle Clarke’s Court for singing a
verse of a Parang on stage; Peterson
Greenidge won one case Vita Malt, while
Leslie Charles received a $200.00 gift
voucher from SP’s in Springs. A senior
citizen, who danced on stage and was an
all time favourite with both the
artistes and the audience, Ms Clarence,
also won one case of Vita Malt. |
